California Leather boy 2012 / Southern California Leather boy 2013

Picture
In January of 2009 I met my good friend George for the first time outside of the Mineshaft bar in Long Beach. He walked up holding a leather biker jacket, he said that it was his very first leather jacket and he was giving it to me thus making it my first leather jacket. When I put it on it felt like the jacket belonged to someone else, it felt huge. However the more time I spent wearing it during our visit at the bar the more it grew on me, and before long I loved it so much I didn't want to take it off at all!  George would then introduce me to the leather world by taking me to AVATAR group meetings, titleholder contests, play parties, and leather bars like Pistons in Long Beach, the Bullet in Silverlake, and the L.A. Eagle.

In the Spring of 2011 I was encouraged to run in the Mr. Long Beach Leather contest held at Pistons bar, I wanted to give back to the community and people who had given me so many wonderful experiences and who had opened my eyes to a deeper world of my own sexuality and their fascinating culture. The contest was a roller coaster of emotions and anxiety, and an event I would definitely repeat if I had to live my life over again.  I came in as 1st runner up, and I was so thrilled!  I had the time of my life, and at the end of everything I was so physically and emotionally exhausted I could have fallen asleep on my feet after leaving the stage!

A short time later that year I was told about the California Leather Sir/boy/Community Bootblack/Puppy contest that was being held down in San Diego that Summer.  I thought that it'd be fun to run again and maybe win a title, so I entered.  The days leading up to the contest I came down with a cold, however I was determined to run and with all the mental preparations I was doing I refused to give in to a little thing like a head cold.  It got to the point where I was shouting at myself in the mirror, screaming at the cold to leave my body, as odd enough as it sounds, it worked.  The weekend of the contest came and I headed down with my friend Dino who was a former titleholder and who was running for California Leather Sir 2012 and who was going to be my partner of the fantasy scene portion in the contest.  I had also found out that I would be running against myself, because the other boy contestant had to back out due to a family emergency, leaving me to compete for a specific point total.  At the end of the event, I stood on the stage, barely keeping it together from a whole weekend of lightheaded delirium and coughing fits, and I was awarded the title of California Leather boy 2012.  Another emotional roller coaster ridden and conquered!

During my title year I threw events to raise money for my travel fund in order to compete in the next contest in that title circuit, International Leather boy 2012, assuming that it was the sole responsibility of the titleholder to do everything on their own concerning events, fundraising, and prize gathering, I asked former and current titleholder friends of mine about how they threw theirs.  Before too long, I threw my first event "Leather Men and Dogs" at Mineshaft on my birthday, the very place where I everything started.  After everything was said and done, I learned something wonderful.  I loved throwing events!  From there, I threw "Leather Men and Dogs 2", "The Grand Kink and Fetish Ball", "Puppy Love", "Leather and Meatballs", "Night of Lions", and finally my last event before my contest, "DOMINATION".

The internationals contest was yet another emotional ride, but this time much more excitement and thrills than fear.  I arrived with confidence, with an electric energy!  I couldn’t wait to do my interview, usually the most dreaded part of a contest as you are being judged directly and are on the spot with questions about yourself, but I was just bursting with joy, this was so much fun!  The other contestants, the judges, everyone was so much fun and happy to be there!  When it came time for the final judging and the announcements of the winners, I found that I didn’t even place, but it didn’t matter to me.  I had so much fun, met so many awesome people, connected with other titleholders, the trip and journey was so worth it all!

With the internationals over, I decided to keep doing what I loved most about being a titleholder and throw more events and fundraisers for the rest of my year and further!  As of February of 2013 I transitioned into my next title, Southern California Leather boy 2013.  Someone at one point asked me what my role in the leather world was.  I answered: “I am a storyteller, I am a party thrower, and I love to greet the newcomers!”  I throw events for multiple reasons, other than the fact that I love putting them together, I also want to see the bars filled with handsome, sexy guys dressed in leather and other fun gear, like rubber and uniforms.  I love seeing the smiles on the faces that appear at my parties, their joy makes me happy, and more inspired to keep planning my events.  It also gives those who are curious about kink and fetish a chance to explore it, so I want to give them as many chances as possible.

I find human sexuality fascinating, the most interesting parts are definitely kinks and fetishes.  As amazingly wonderful and passionate as most of these can be, people are still fearful or confused by them.  I'm working towards dissolving fear and overturning myths people may have, which are keeping them from exploring their personal sides, and turning it all into excitement!  I've met many men who claim to be "vanilla" or just enjoy regular no-frills sex, which is fine, but I also want these men to know there's a whole world of sexual satisfaction and fun out there available to them which lies outside the small world that they know.  I am also a strong believer in safe sex.  There are so many nasty things one can catch from another person through sexual activity, so I urge everyone to always Play Safe.  Use condoms, spermicides, dental dams, barriers, clean your toys and research how to disinfect them properly.  Also get to know your play partner beforehand, random encounters with strangers can be very dangerous, so I urge you all to please take care.  Sit down and negotiate your play, tell each other what you enjoy, what turns you on, what your hard limits are, and what you are willing to explore.  The more you know about your play partner can translate into a deeper and more meaningful play session together.

Have fun, guys, and please play safe.
